Leaseholders unhappy with block's managing agent

In a case which stretches back long before Urban Owners' own successful involvement, the Right to Manage company's lead sponsor, Deborah Maloney, was driven to pursue the Right to Manage after years of unsatisfactory service from the development's previous managing agent.

Deborah initially turned to the Right to Manage Federation to carry out the development's Right to Manage process, but several months and several hundred pounds in fees later the leaseholders were no closer to taking control through the RTM, as the Right to Manage Federation had been unable to progress the process to a satisfactory extent.

At this point Deborah turned to Urban Owners, and through her own tenacity and Urban Owners' professional and efficient approach to the process, the development quickly went through the steps along the way to acquiring the Right to Manage.

Leaseholders opt to join RTM company

The achievement is made all the more impressive given not only the number of blocks involved, but also the fact that a high percentage of the homeowners were absent landlords living in all corners of the globe. Nevertheless, Urban Owners was still able to secure an admirable 61% participation rate amongst homeowners becoming members of the Right to Manage company.

Steve Hooper, Director at Urban Owners said of the landmark case:

"It's a great achievement and we're delighted we were able to help Deborah in acquiring the Right to Manage for her development. It just goes to show that help is out there for homeowners living in bigger developments who are concerned that its sheer size will be a hindrance to them taking control from their managing agent or freeholder.

The important thing in these cases is to do due diligence throughout the application process - this is exactly the approach we take at Urban Owners, which is why we have 100% record in successful Right to Manage applications."

Deborah meanwhile commented:

"Urban Owners have been fantastic from the word go. It is such a relief to find a company that can keep to its promises and deliver the service where others have failed. I would thoroughly recommend the Urban Owners service and I know that others from our development feel the same."
